Dean of School of economics and Zhang Peigang Development Research Institute of Huazhong University of science and technology, leading professor of Huazhong outstanding scholars and doctoral supervisor. The winner of the national "ten thousand people plan" leading talents in philosophy and Social Sciences, the member of the Economics Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of education, the chief expert of the major bidding project of the National Social Science Foundation, the main member of the compilation team of the Marxist engineering textbook development economics of the Ministry of education, and the editor in chief of the "development economics" sub volume of economics of the third edition of China Encyclopedia.

The main research fields include development economics, industrial economics, growth theory and China's economic transformation and development. He has published more than 100 academic papers in important journals such as China Social Sciences and economic research, and more than a dozen books and teaching materials such as development economics, innovation incentive and economic development, poverty measurement and policy evaluation - Research on urban poverty in China's transition period, and Research on the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure based on the road of new industrialization.
