Research Institute for County Economic Development

The Research Institute for County Economic Development was established on June 17, 2017. It is a university-level research and consultation platform affiliated with the School of Economics. The Institute adheres to the concept of “focusing on western China and striving for a first-rated university”. It aims at carrying out high-level policy consulting research and problem-oriented theoretical research to provide intellectual support for the economic and social development of counties (cities, districts), especially in-depth research into and resolution of the problems and problems of general importance in the development of the county economy in Gansu, so as to solve major and critical issues of utmost urgency. In the same vein, the institute means to occupy a high academic position, striving to be a national first-class county economy research think tank as well as a university think tank of a new type. 

Silk Road Economic Belt Construction Research Center

The Silk Road Economic Belt Construction Research Center a major provincial research base in the School of Economics, relying on the disciplinnary advantages of regional economics, focusing on the needs of disciplinary development and construction, and exploring research directions based on regional economic development. The major aims of this center are to support the special strategies for regional development, providing services to regional economic and industrial development, research and promotion, and providing active and scientific advice and suggestions for the betterment of local economy. 

Western China Regional Economic Development and Policy Research Center 

Western China Regional Economic Development and Policy Research Center, Lanzhou University was established in 2013 and is one of the key research bases for humanities and social sciences in the higher education institutions in Gansu Province. Relying on the advantages of Applied Economics, Lanzhou University, the Center is based on realistic principles of development in underdeveloped regions and highlights research on the characteristics of poverty, ecology, ethnicity and opening situation in the western China. Since inauguration, it has been serving the needs of the country and region. Scientific research has been conducted around major issues in China's economic and social development and fruitful research results have been achieved.
